Can’t believe this doesn’t feature more highly. From the immaculate & tasteful Knight’s layout & decor to the reasonably priced, proper chef produced food, this place is by far the best eaterie we’ve found in the area having now stayed in Galloway several times. Able to cater well for a vegan, and 5 year old & assorted people with high standards. Gorgeous food & good selection with friendly & helpful staff. Couldn’t believe two course meal & a glass of wine here cost little more than sandwiches & coffee in a trendy cafe in Stranraer. I highly recommend every aspect, we’ll be going again on our final night in the area. Lovely outdoor area for good weather too.

The Crown Hotel really is a most pleasant place, it consists of a beautifully set out and stylish restaurant, a more informal lounge bar where you can also eat, and accommodation. I can’t comment on the latter as have only dined there. The food and service has been exceptional on each of my 3 visits so I can say with confidence that I didn’t just go there on a good day! The restaurant really is the best bit in my opinion and would be ideal for a special occasion lunch or dinner. We found this hotel by chance while on a on a road trip and now the highlight of being anywhere near Newton Stewart is to go to the Crown Hotel! If it wasn’t for the fact we have a holiday home 15 miles away we would have stayed overnight there too by now!!

Searched for dog friendly eateries and chose The Crown Hotel. We were not disappointed. Excellent ambience in the bar and the restaurant looked really nice. Bella was offered a chew while we chose from the bar menu. We didn’t have to wait long and the food was lovely. The staff were friendly as well.

Went for dinner, with friends, last night and had a very enjoyable evening. The food was excellent, with a wide choice of dishes and the staff are friendly, welcoming and well trained. Thanks for a good night.

I have had two meals in the newly-refurbished restaurant in the last week and I was very impressed. The service was impeccable, attentive but not intrusive, and the food was beautifully presented and very tasty. Highly recommended.
